I’ll be honest, I usually stay away from dance reality shows. Given the amount of real dance I watch on any given day, the last thing I really want to do at night is watch more dance.
But, I recorded Superstars of Dance on the TiVo, and with nothing else on this week, I acquiesced and watched it last night. I am still bitter and angry about the experience. I’m not an avid watcher of Dancing with the Stars, but I get and appreciate why people tune in every week, and am glad that they do. But Superstars of Dance ? Oy weh.
The full play by play of my reactions can be found on our twitter page, but to summarize, I don’t think there is a shovel in the world big enough to remove the gigantic pile of excrement that is this show. Michael Flatley should be stripped of his title of “Lord”, and forced to clean the marle on every stage in New York… with a toothbrush… for ten years.
The ratings were good enough to avoid a “one and done” scenario like Rosie O’ Donnell’s recent variety show disaster, but we’ll see how many of the 10 million viewers hang on next week. I’m guessing down 25%. The “competition” ends January 26th, so it probably won’t get axed, although one can only dream.
